SUMMER 2010


For our 16th year of “Kid’s Cooking” we are offering five separate weeks of summer classes. Each day a new technique or two is taught through demonstration, then the students work on one or two recipes with a partner. When everything is ready, they sit down at the dining tables and enjoy the meal they have made. Class size is limited, so be sure to register quickly – classes fill very fast. Bread making

Week 1: Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, June 4  WEEK 1 IS NOW FULL
(8-12 yrs. old) $180
Breakfast: Includes – German Apple Pancakes, Breakfast Burritos, Zucchini Muffins and Cherry Crumble Mexican: Includes- Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas, Flank Steak Soft Tacos, Pepper-Corn Salad, Cinnamon Chocolate Chunk Cookies Breads & Sandwiches: Includes – Garlic Knots, Maple Walnut Bread, Parmesan Biscuits, Focaccia-Hummus Sandwiches, and Ice Cream Sandwiches Vegetarian I: Includes – Penne w/Grilled Veggies, Panzanella Salad, Confetti Couscous, Orange-Sesame Snap Peas and Peach-Berry Cobbler. (Please notice that only this week begins on a Tuesday – due to the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday).

Week 2: Monday, June 7 through Friday, June 11…
(13-17 years old) $225
Will be the same “Week 1” Menus as above with additional recipes daily.  Additionally, there is a Friday graduation lunch where each student may invite 2 guests for lunch; the students create the menu, cook, host, and serve.

Week 3: Monday, June 14  through Thursday, June 17…
(8-12 yrs. old)  $180
Island: Includes – Caribbean Sliders, Coconut Crusted Chicken, Satay Skewers with Lemon Vinaigrette and Coconut Mango Cupcakes Pizza: Includes – Pesto Pizza with Fresh Mozzarella and Tomatoes, Squash Pizza with Parmesan & Bacon, Grilled Pizza Margherita, and Chocolate Pizza Greek: Includes – Hummus-Steak Pitas, Broiled Feta and Tomato Spread, Tzatziki, and Kourabeithes (sugared almond cookies) Vegetarian II: Includes – Basil-Parmesan Dip with Pita, Lavash Pizza, Chiles Rellenos Dip, and Pineapple Upside-Down Cake


Week 4: Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25…
(13-17 years old) $225

Brunch: Includes – Blueberry Pancakes, Chicken-Strawberry Salad, Ciabatta Brunch Pizzas, and Streusel Coffee Cake
Asian: Includes – Sesame Shrimp Scampi, Stir-Fried Beef with Bells & Broccoli, Peanut Chicken over Scallion Rice and Mango Rice Pudding Italian: Includes – Spinach & Ricotta Pizza, Sausage Manicotti, Garlicky Spaghetti, and Amaretti Fresh Fruit Tart.
Vegetarian III: IncludesBulgur Wheat Salad with Edamame and Cherry Tomatoes, Green Bean Salad, Grilled Potato Skins, Salad-Topped Pizza, and Banana-Chocolate Chip Cake.

If you are interested in registering for one or more weeks of summer classes, please go to the “Registrations” page on the left, print and fill out the form and mail, with payment, to the address as directed on the form.

Potential students may receive our brochure by email at lpgourmett@aol.com or by calling Linda Hopkins at (480) 991-7648 and leaving a name, email address, and phone number to be added to our mailing list. Brochures are sent by email in early March for the next summer’s classes.

We only hold scheduled kid’s classes during the summer.  If you are interested in private group classes, for kids or adults, (minimum 10 students, minimum age 8 yrs. old) please contact us for details.
