a hint of Asia

As summer drags on and I long to make soups, stews, and roasts. To heat the oven and roast vegetables instead of stand in the sweltering heat and grill them. Summer means burgers and we’re actually tiring of those too … so I decided to put a twist on the traditional summer burger and throw in some Asian influence. It was the perfect change!

Asian Burgers

1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 green onions, white and light green portions, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, peeled and minced
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Buns and Toppers
4 hamburger buns lightly toasted
Ketchup
Sriracha mayonnaise
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Avocado slices
Grilled portobello mushroom slices
Pickled red onions
Goat cheese

In a medium bowl, use your hands to mix together the ground beef with the soy sauce, sesame seeds, oil, green onions, garlic, and pepper.

Divided into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.  Use a grill pan or barbeque to cook to desired doneness.

Place burgers on toasted buns, pile on the toppings, and enjoy.

Makes 4
