unpacking, work, and fog

flog

I am typing this on Wednesday morning from the Austin airport, waiting for the fog to clear so that my delayed Southwest Airlines flight can depart. So far, we’re only 60 minutes delayed, but that is still in flux and could change at any time.

After Dave left on Monday morning; Jeff, Marissa, and I unpacked more boxes. And there was a lot to unpack. Later, we enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at Austin Java, which is just a few steps from their new place. By early evening, I felt a head cold coming on, so I went back to my hotel room to get some much-needed sleep.

to work

On Tuesday, Jeff was flying out for a business trip and Marissa had to report to work for her first day in the new office. I drove her there. The office is just a few blocks from the state capital building.

stove

I went back to the apartment and worked on the kitchen while waiting for the AT&T guy to hook up the internet.

kitchen

Their kitchen is huge, especially when you compare it to what they had to work with in San Francisco!

no much of a stretch

That sad space was so small that Jeff could touch both walls at once.

Oh, and by now my cold was in full force, so I was popping DayQuil like it was candy.

towels

I love that Marissa picked these two “hometown” kitchen towels to hang on the oven!

central market

After the AT&T tech left, I took more Dayquil and went to Target and Central Market to get essentials and groceries.

produce

Central Market is a fabulous Texas grocery store that was founded in Austin. It is similar to Whole Foods, which is also founded/based in Austin.

wine sign

I could have easily spent the better part of a day there!

growler

I was temped to buy Marissa and/or Connor a Central Market growler, but I resisted.

lunch

I did buy myself some lunch, a delicious BLT which came with a big side of tabbouleh. The sandwich was so huge that I never even took a bite of the salad. I put it in the fridge so that Marissa will have something to take to work for brown-bag lunch.

pick up

I ended the day as I began it, downing more DayQuil and driving to Marissa’s new office to pick her up. We ordered take-out, watched some YouTube videos and then I went back to the hotel and took some NyQuil. This is one stubborn head cold and Texas has a bunch of stubborn fog!

My flight is now delayed another hour… I’m sure I’ll get out of here sometime today!

UPDATE: It is now 3:00 PM on Wednesday and I am home. I’ve thrown some clothes in the washer, I’m going to take more drugs and take a nap before I leave for work at 5:30.

Back to life – Back to reality!
