that 70’s dinner

I’ve shared with you several times before that our neighborhood hosts a Progressive Dinner at least once a year. You don’t remember that? Check it out HERE, Here, and HERE.

The next dinner is this Saturday night and our theme is The 1970’s.  Why the ’70’s? Because that is when our community, Equestrian Manor, was developed.

It’s a pretty fun theme – especially if you’re over 40 and remember some of it first-hand. Does this image of an avocado kitchen bring up scary memories?

How about this car? (1974 AMC Pacer – no I did not have one!)

Or this “technology”?

8-track tapes and rotary telephones, land-line, that’s all we had, kids.

And then there was the fashion… oh the fashion!

My mom made most of our clothes, so I really remember these very versatile sewing patterns.

One pattern is all you needed to make bell-bottom pants to skirts.  And another to create minis to maxis!

As for this next frightful image …all I can say is, “What were they thinking!?”

I did love my Go-Go Boots though!!!

No, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, believe it or not, kids, back in the 1970’s – Flying On An Airplane was FUN!

Look at the size of those seats.

And those cute hot pants and go-go boots on the cute stewardesses – that’s what we called them back then… no males allowed.

Yep, you used to be able to smoke where ever, whenever. I have to say,  that is one very positive change in flying!

Tomorrow we’ll talk about the food … oh the everyday, every man’s food of the 1970’s … ouch!

I’ve got my boots! Sure you don’t want some “apple sauce meatballs” for an additional appetizer?
